Lucky for you I have just found your new favourite restaurant. The first of its kind on South African soil and a real gem. Found in Sandton City, Nonna’s Food Bar offers their customers a one of a kind dining experience without the pretence and with all the flavour.
My first impression of the newly opened store was the fresh interior and calm atmosphere. Packed with businessmen, Sandtonites and the more stylish northern suburbers, I knew I was in the right place. Now, more importantly the food. It was a complete dining experience and I found myself sitting, eating and taking in the atmosphere for well over 2 hours. From their authentic and made to order Pasta’s ( Their Prima Vera has already become a firm favourite) to their perfectly done Zucchini fries, calamari and Pizza slices, I am sure you can tell they have certainly found a fan in me.
What separates Nonna’s Food bar from any restaurant in South Africa is something I would call conscious cuisine. Their pizza dough, sauces and dressings are all prepared in-house and guaranteed to be made of the finest ingredients. Raw, unprocessed, organic, healthy and fresh is what they are all about. Not to mention ( and perhaps most importantly) their pasta is made fresh EVERY SINGLE DAY, with a window display allowing all customers to have an insight into their culinary ‘laboratory’. Fresh is at the centre of their ethos and you can literally taste it in every ingredient.
Part of Nonna’s charm is the unique set-up. You can order pasta’s, pizza’s, antipasta’s and salads directly from the chefs at each individual station. Every dish is prepared to order right in front of your very eyes. You can customise your own dish on the spot or choose from constant favourites ( and still customise to your own tastebuds).
Nonna’s Foodbar is the perfect setting for a quick lunch break, business meeting, healthy meal or just a wonderful setting to meet and eat! Make sure you give this gem a visit!
